Manifest Equality issues an inspiring, visual call-to-action, with hundreds of artists motivating public energy toward true reform on a local, state and national level.
Below is a preview on the painting created specifically for the exhibition, along with the questions answered for the Meet The Artist portion of the website:
—
Why have you chosen to participate in Manifest Equality?
I feel that discrimination is a product of ignorance, misinformation and fear. While there are plenty of legitimate challenges that we face as a society, inequality should not be one of them.
Describe a bit about your submission to the gallery or the creative process you are putting into it.
I had a number of different concepts that I was working with for Manifest Equality. Some addressing the current state of our armed forces, and the ridiculous policy of lying about their sexuality in order to defend our country. Others focused on the contradiction of proclaiming “liberty and justice for all”, while denying millions of people from marrying the ones they love.
While all of these particular issues (along with any other form of discrimination) are deeply troubling to me, I felt that it’s more important for me as an artist to focus on the heart of the matter, unity – rather then to visually spur any opposing view.
“One Love” is my simplified depiction of what love and unity looks like to me, minus any race or any gender. To love and to be loved, is one of the most amazing and important gifts a person can experience within their lifetime. It should not be denied to anyone – especially by anyone else.

What else would you like to manifest?
Education / Creativity / Conservation / Humanity / Health… Sign me up for all of them.

Manifest Equality will be open to the public, Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 through Sunday, March 7th, 2010 between the hours of 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with extended hours Friday – Sunday.
