26 Oct intentions
Quick note on the closing out of GOOD INTENTIONS at the Morean. A whole lot has led up to this exhibit. I starting planning over 2 years ago, with an opening scheduled for 2021. Those plans were abruptly stopped due to.. all things 2021. Thankfully the Morean allowed for me to reschedule for the fall of this year, and I enjoyed this extra time to imagine the space. When my dad passed, just weeks before the opening – another abrupt stop.
I completely locked-up. I didn’t know how I was going to move forward with anything, let alone an art show. My first priority is my role as his son, and I’m now about to cancel this exhibit for the 2nd time, or try to promote it? I was conflicted. Truly, it was only when I recalled the last time he and I spoke and his excitement to see the exhibition, that I gained the ground to carry on.
Addition paintings and a mural were scraped. Art rearranged to fill areas that I had other plans for. Promo halted. It was starting to deviate from what I had envisioned. And while it may have been a solo exhibition, by no means did I get there alone. I could not have done it without the tremendous support of my friends and family. Special thanks to: Amanda Cooper, Sarah Aldrich, Christopher Andrews, The Rehms, The Blues, Paul Vitale, Jason Kekllas, Aaron Tullo, John Vitale, Nick Kekllas, Toby Scholl, John Ruzecki, Bryan Nichols.
And a HUGE thank you to everyone that supported, reached out and showed up to the exhibit. It was a gift to share this experience with you all, and look forward to the next one!
